Meet the Coaches
AMANDA MCKAY
HIGH SCHOOL

I grew up in Portland, Oregon and began playing lacrosse in 2005. Where I lived there weren’t a lot of girls lacrosse programs so I had to drive over an hour to practices each week. Throughout my middle and high school careers I witnessed the sport grow and was fortunate to have both a school supported team as well as a select team to play on during my high school years.
I was recruited to play Division III collegiate lacrosse at Concordia University Wisconsin. This was a wonderful experience and while I only stayed one year before transferring to WWU, our team made it to the NCAA DIII National Lacrosse Tournament Playoffs.
This will be my 5th year coaching and I have loved every second of it. I often say, while I am teaching the techniques, rules, and intricacies of the sport, I also care deeply about the individual players and helping them become the best versions of themselves. I believe lacrosse should be fun and accessible, providing an escape from the stresses of life.
During the day, I work for a non-profit as a policy professional and you can find me walking my dogs, Kuma and Flapjack, skiing with my husband, and fixing things around my 100 year old house.

HIGH SCHOOL

I believe the tools you need to succeed in life can be found on the lacrosse field. I picked up a stick for the first time as a sophomore in high school and I fell in love. I continued to play lacrosse as a defender for UMass Dartmouth and served as their captain. After graduating, I returned to UMassD as the Associate Women’s Lacrosse Coach, and held the position for four years.
As a recent transplant from Massachusetts, I was delighted to find a growing lacrosse program in Bellingham. I teach players the value of communication, teamwork, and the importance of a positive attitude. I believe lacrosse should be accessible to everyone and I am dedicated to growing the game in Washington.
When I'm not coaching, you can find me playing lacrosse with the Vancouver club team, hiking in the Chuckanuts with my husband and daughter, or working at ModSock in downtown Bellingham.
KATIE NARDI
MIDDLE SCHOOL

I grew up in Tacoma, Washington and began playing lacrosse in 2011. I helped start the first ever girls lacrosse team at my high school, Bellarmine Prep in 2011. All of my family is from the East Coast so I grew up watching lacrosse and was excited to help bring more attention to the sport here in the Pacific Northwest.
After high school I went on to attend Western Washington University from 2014-2018. I loved playing for WWU and we were a very competitive team during my time there. Our team went to playoffs many times, competed in the Santa Barbara Shootout each year, and our team made it to the NCAA DIII National Lacrosse Tournament Playoffs.
This will be my second year coaching youth lacrosse in Whatcom County and it brings me so much joy to see our girls start to deepen their understanding and skills of girls lacrosse.
During the day, I work as a 2nd grade teacher at the Franklin Academy in Bellingham. You can find me walking my dog, Maple, mountain biking at Galbraith, or playing with my cat Leila.

Program Coach

I grew up here in Bellingham and joined when lacrosse for girls was still a new phenomenon but I had an older brother who played and two parents ready to be volunteer coaches. I spent a lot of summers at lacrosse tournaments over the years and tried a few other sports before coming back to lacrosse in high school.
Knowing I loved the sport and wanting to keep playing, I walked on to play at Whitman College, where I also ran track and cross country. But while I enjoyed running my love for lacrosse has always been stronger.
This program has grown in incredible ways since I was young and while it may still not be the primary sport for many in the area, I know anyone who tries it loves it. Much of that is due to the dedicated coaches (that I feel very lucky to be part of) and hope that we can help the sport, and young players, continue to grow!
