About us
Welcome to Whatcom Girls Youth Lacrosse (WGYL)
At WGYL, we believe in the power of sports to shape confident, capable, and inspired young women. Through lacrosse, we create an environment where girls can grow their skills, build lasting friendships, and discover the joy of teamwork—both on and off the field.
Empower
Building Strength and Confidence Through a Love of Lacrosse
At Whatcom Girls Youth Lacrosse (WGYL), our mission is to empower girls ages 5–18 from Whatcom and surrounding counties. Through lacrosse, we cultivate not only athletic skills, but also strength, leadership, and self-confidence.
Our programs focus on:
- Teamwork and Collaboration: Encouraging players to support each other on and off the field.
- Personal Growth: Helping girls set goals, overcome challenges, and celebrate their achievements.
- Passion for the Game: Instilling a lifelong love for lacrosse in a fun, safe, and inclusive environment.
- Leadership Development: Providing opportunities for players to take initiative, mentor younger athletes, and develop valuable life skills.
WGYL is more than a sports organization—it’s a community where girls can grow, thrive, and become their best selves while enjoying the game they love.
Inspire
Encouraging Excellence On and Off the Field
We aim to inspire every player to reach her full potential, both as an athlete and as a person. By emphasizing hard work, resilience, and sportsmanship, we create an environment where girls are motivated to push their limits, celebrate achievements, and embrace challenges.
Through clinics, team events, and mentorship opportunities, WGYL helps players develop skills that extend beyond lacrosse—into school, friendships, and future endeavors.
Connect
Building Community Through Lacrosse
Lacrosse is more than a game—it’s a way to bring girls, families, and communities together. WGYL fosters connections across Whatcom and surrounding counties, creating friendships and support networks that last a lifetime.
From team events to club-wide activities, we encourage family involvement and community engagement, ensuring every player feels part of a larger, supportive community.
